Stephen Turner
CO-HEAD COACH 2025/26
Stephen Turner is co-head coach of the Redwood High School Mountain Bike Team. He has been riding mountain bikes for over 30 years and coaching with the team for the past two seasons. Stephen shares his love of the sport with his son Asa, a current team rider, and enjoys racing alongside him at events around Northern California. He’s passionate about exploring Marin’s trails and helping young riders build confidence and community through mountain biking. He lives in Larkspur with his wife, three kids, two bike racks, and a garage full of bikes in various states of repair.

David Lee
CO-HEAD COACH 2025/26
David Lee is co-head coach of the Redwood High School Mountain Bike Team. He’s been coaching with the team for two years and cycling since the late 80s. He started racing on the road during high school and recently returned to racing, inspired by the Redwood Team, after a two-decade break from the competitive side of cycling. He aspires for mid-pack finishes in the masters categories on the mountain and road bike. He still tries to keep up with his son, Anthony, during his slower recovery rides on the bike.

Jennifer Corteville
CO-DIRECTOR AND COACH 2025/26
Jennifer Corteville is a co-team director of the Redwood High School Mountain Bike Team. This will be Jennifer's fourth year coaching with the Redwood team and sixth year playing bikes. Coach Jen started riding as a way to spend time with her son, Dylan, who will be a senior riding with Redwood this year. She quickly fell in love with the sport and the welcoming community surrounding the Redwood team. She enjoys coaching new riders and hopes to inspire a lifelong love of exploring the outdoors. When she is not riding with the team, she hopes to explore new trails on one of her two purple bikes. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about the team and/or coaching!

Steve Scott
2024/25 CO-HEAD COACH
Steven Scott is co-head coach of the Redwood high school mountain bike team. He’s been coaching with the team for three years and riding mountain bikes since the late 80s. Back when the earth was cooling he raced 24-hour races and a few cross country events in the Western US. He still gets out and chases his daughter around riding in Marin, Tahoe and anywhere his wheels will take him. He lives in Fairfax, with his wife, daughter and big Labrador retriever.

Rob Howard
2025/25 CO-HEAD COACH
Rob Howard is co-head coach of the Redwood High School Mountain Bike Team. He’s been coaching with the team for three years and riding mountain bikes for more than 30 years. In ancient times he raced mountain bikes in NORBA and NCAA events hroughout the Northeast. Despite getting a little slower every year, he still enjoys climbing and technical riding in Marin and the Tahoe area. Outside of biking he lives in Larkspur with his wife and two girls and is the CEO of Kindred Motorworks.

Julia Violich
TEAM FOUNDER
Julia is the co-founder and Finance Director for the US based TWENTY24 professional women’s cycling team. The team is in its 19th year and has earned multiple World Championships as well as medals at the 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio Olympics and in the 2020/1 Tokyo Olympics.
She is also the Director of the Bear National Team, a national junior and U23 elite team with riders from 19 different State leagues. She is an avid cyclist herself and has five National Titles and a Silver medal at the Masters World Championships.
Julia has been a coach for the Redwood High School Mountain Bike Team since 2002. She has also coached the Branson Team and Marin Academy Team. She has been an advisor to the NorCal Board since 2004, hosting the first fundraiser for the League.
Locally, Julia has been on the board of Marin County Bicycle Coalition Board of Directors for the last 20 years. She also the President of the Friends of Stafford Lake Bike Park, a 17-acre Bike Park in Novato.
Nationally, Julia is a past member of the national USA Cycling Board of Directors, and as well as a current member of the USA Cycling Foundation Board’s executive committee, acting as treasurer.
