WHY JOIN?
Mountain biking is a lifelong sport for all skill levels—no tryouts, no cuts, everyone’s welcome! Our coaches prioritize safety, skills, and stoke, and you’ll make plenty of new riding buddies along the way.
COSTS
Our sponsorships and Redwood Foundation help reduce the costs to all club members; however, we are largely self-funded. Below is an outline of expected costs;
$525 Team Dues - payable to REDWOOD HS MTB Team. Dues cover rider team kit; coach education and licensing expenses; team registration, equipment, and insurance; and food/drink for our “race pit zones.”
$90 one-time per year rider insurance for National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and NorCal League fee payable online. Scholarships Available.
$50 Race Entry Fees - payable to the NorCal League per race.
Tamarancho Pass - New riders need to get a pass for the Tamarancho area. Applications are collected by the team and processed through the Marin Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Volunteering - All racers’ families are also expected to volunteer their time to help run our “race pit zone” at each race.

REDWOOD HIGH SCHOOL MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM
The mission of the Redwood High School Mountain Bike team is to provide student athletes an enriching, safe, and friendly environment for working as a team, improving fitness, strengthening the mind, developing character and building camaraderie. Through training and competition, we aim to promote individual growth, fellowship within the team, and rapport within the biking community. We aspire to create a lifelong love of mountain biking and a healthy, active lifestyle.
The team is part of NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association), which provides middle and high school students with the opportunity to experience mountain biking in a safe and inclusive environment. NICA offers a fun and competitive racing program as well as GRiT (Girls Riding Together), which encourages more girls to ride and build confidence ad friendships on the bike. The team competes in the Redwood/Repack region of NICA’s NorCal League.
